Prices fall this week

UK rapeseed prices have fallen this week as sellers have emerged on the May 2019 Matif futures.

Current ex farm levels are back to £315.00 in England and below £310.00  in Scotland. Crushers continue to believe they can cover their needs in the spot position and one crusher is using about 25% of the Scottish crop to top up his March requirements.

This should clear many stores in Scotland and, with many stores in England already empty, this will make the supply of seed in April/June a battle of wills between farmer long holders and the crushers.

Worries persist about new crop rapeseed and an early spring with little rainfall is not likely to help.  Prices have held up better on new crop with few sellers at the £300 to £305 ex farm bid levels.
