Lead the UK's Break Crop Specialist - A Co-operative Success Story

Due to the planned retirement of the current Managing Director, we are looking to appoint a new MD who will be high-energy and entrepreneurial in style, with a sharp focus on commercial success and delivering consistent value to our farmer membership.

United Oilseeds is the UK’s leading national break crop expert and one of its pre-eminent agricultural co-operatives.

With an annual turnover of £172 million and net worth of over 14 million, United Oilseeds manages the largest oilseed rape pools in the country.  The company commands a 30% share of both the UK certified oilseed rapeseed market and the oilseed rape UK combinable crop.

In addition to oilseed rape, United Oilseeds Marketing Ltd trades significant volumes of other break crops, including oats, peas, beans, linseed and rye.

The Job 

The mainly office based role requires outstanding leadership skills, including the ability to manage a highly motivated and dedicated team of professionals that has built an enviable reputation for excellence and customer service amongst its farmer members and customers, and within the industry as a whole.
Equally important is managing the co-operative’s close and established 
trade relationships with the country’s principal seed breeders, UK crushers and store keepers.

You will be sales focused and lead the company’s sales strategy, driving the sales team to exceed their targets and develop opportunities to promote continued growth. 

Key Responsibilities

Ability to identify and progress strategic corporate acquisition opportunities
ormulating the company’s commercial strategy and five-year plan for growth in conjunction with our Financial Director and Board of Farmer Directors

Identifying new commercial opportunities for the co-operative and its members

Work in partnership with seed breeders, large consumers and store keepers to maximise commercial opportunities

The Candidate

  • Will have a track record of success as a Managing/Commercial Director,
  • ideally within the arable sector and with experience in commodity trading
  • Able to embrace technology to enhance business growth and efficiency
  • Possess strong negotiating and analytical skills
  • Be passionate and committed to growing the organisation
