Rapeseed prices hold steady

Date Added: 30/09/2016

By Owen Cligg, Trading Manager, United Oilseeds

UK rapeseed prices have risen this week as supplies become harder to find. The UK farmer is now concentrating on field work, and rapeseed in store can stay there until prices improve. Spot prices are holding steady at £310 to £317 ex farm in England, whilst Scottish farmers will need to wait for vessels to arrive to achieve £305 to £310 ex for November.

Soya prices remain moribund as good yield reports from the US continue. However, there are still concerns about wet weather delaying harvest, and also impacting quality.

Our view continues to be rapeseed prices get supported by a tightening of vegetable oil supplies, as rapeseed oil and palm oil stocks continue to be restricted.

Owen
