Rapeseed values holding up well

Old crop rapeseed prices remain supported in both Europe and UK as supplies remain sought after. UK values are in a range of £250 to £260 ex farm as crushers still require supplies. On the face of it, although crush margins are poor, the previous crush rates have been higher than expected, so that any reduced crush now is unable to have the effect of reducing prices as the crushers had hoped.

New crop prices are in a range of £235 to £240 ex farm for harvest which is attracting little interest from farm sellers despite looking reasonable value against wheat. An impending el nino may yet support prices if palm oil production is affected. However, large stocks of South American and US soya beans are likely to mean any upside is limited.
