Paul King is in partnership with his family and has been running the farm for 12 years.

Bayardo Farm 300 acres of arable land

Bayardo Farm Partnership was founded in 1998. They are growing 100 acres of oilseed rape, 130 acres of wheat and 70 acres of Barley. The farm is situated on the edge of westwoods in the marlborough downs.

For the 2010/11 season Bayardo Farm partnership are growing two varieties of oilseed rape.

DK Cabernet - The UK's number one pure line variety with exceptional gross output and high oil content, good all-round disease tolerance and agronomic characteristics, excellent autumn vigour and reliable establishment.

Castille - A unique combination of consistently high yield and low biomass it continues to demonstrate consistent performance with high stable yields.

Both varieties were drilled between the 21st and 24th of August at a rate of 4kg/ha and went into flint over clay land the conditions were ideal, drilled with a four meter Accord drill. The land was given a quarter application of slug pellets as a precaution. Following this a application of 0.24.24 240kgs/ha and then 80 units of nitrogen in the autumn.

Both crops are performing consistently and because of the soil conditions the crops are not suffering as much as those on lighter land.
